Post-Jam version 1.0 (checkpoints, expanded world, tons of small changes)


I've made a lot of changes to the game since the jam version. Some key changes:

  • Checkpoints
  • Expanded map
  • Secret areas
  • Background elements
  • A cactus enemy
  • Improved small spiky boss player attack
  • A coin magnet upgrade to make coins gravitate towards you
  • Breakable blocks don't kill you anymore (they just damage you then explode)
  • Downwards diagonal aim
  • Greatly improved camera smoothing
  • Upgrades are stackable


I made a lot more use of tinting the colours for the background elements, since this is post-jam, it doesn't have to strictly stick to the 2 colour rule. I think it looks a bit nicer.

There's a lot more small changes and fixes, too. I probably won't work much on the game after this, as I want to move onto more projects. I might come back to it in the future and make some changes. A timer would be nice for speedrunning, and I think it would be better if barrels/gold sacks didn't respawn after loading a checkpoint, because it allows you to farm them too easily. Also more polish for the boss player characters. The main player has particles, and some nicer platforming things like coyote time, but the other transformations don't, so I may do that, but for now, this is version 1.0.
