A downloadable game for Windows

A short roguelite metroidvania where you can shapeshift into the bosses you defeat. Made in around 10 days for 1-Bit Jam #3.

(Sadly I can only get the windows build the work properly. Browser version works fine until I upload it, and then it has all sorts of weird bugs and bad performance.)

Gameplay:

Defeat bosses to be able to shapeshift into them, which will allow you to get to areas you previously couldn't.

Tips:

  • If you quit early, you lose your gold (may change post-jam). When you die, you start from the beginning, but keep any gold you collected, which will allow you to buy a helpful upgrade in the shop.
  • Enemies should respawn if you go away and come back. They will occasionally drop health orbs.
  • If you jump, you can shoot below you.

Controls (gamepad recommended):

  • Jump/Select: space (keyboard), A (controller)
  • Pause: escape (keyboard), Menu/Start (controller)
  • Directions: WASD (keyboard), D-Pad (controller)
  • Shapeshift: C (keyboard), Y (controller)
  • Attack: ctrl (right) (keyboard), X (controller)
  • Crouch (as cowboy): S (keyboard), D-pad down (controller)
  • Aim diagonal (up): shift (left) (keyboard), LB (controller)
  • Keyboard controls were inspired by Downwell's recommended buttons.

Thanks! I also got that feedback from someone else. It's meant to be like a roguelite game, where you go back to the beginning, but can buy permanent upgrades to help your next playthrough, but I didn't get many upgrades finished in time. I plan on adding checkpoints, though.
